Batchomatic
A few years ago I was down at Pilchuck and in speaking with Jason Johnson, the former school Tech; he had mentioned “it would be great to have an easier way of batch bagging”. At Pilchuck they fill brown paper bags by hand with batch, approximately 10lbs each to throw in the furnace, this makes a safe and easy way of charging. Jason and I did some brainstorming on the idea and the next year I went down to Pilchuck and the Batchomatic was born. The Batchomatic takes the back breaking labor out of the process of transferring from a large bag to several small bags.
The machine incorporates an auger to move material from a hopper to a bagging shoot; the auger is run by small gear head motor with a timer. The timer is how you determine the weight of the bag. Less time –less weight, more time- more weight. The auger incorporates an overload system in case of jamming and a sturdy grate on top for smashing the batch through, which for safety is bolted down. The bagging chute also has a port for an exhaust to remove dust.
